Obituary

Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Margaret Wiebe (nee Thiessen) passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 95 years old. She was born July 1, 1928.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children. Don/Cathy, Henry, Ben, Margaret/Rob, Abe/Marlene, Jake/Sheila, Lisa/Cesar, Shirley/Dirk, John/Evelyn, Shelly/Shawn, Bill/Mary, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by our father Diedrich Wiebe, her loving children Dick Wiebe, MaryAnne Wiebe, Katherine Gauthier, Jim Wiebe and grandson Justin Latinecz. Margaret was also predeceased by her father Diedrich Thiessen and mother Maria Ginter, siblings Betty/Ben Penner, Anne/Henry Ginter, Abe/Margaret Thiessen, Mary/Jake Friesen, Susan/Dave Wiebe.

Margaret loved gardening, berry picking, fishing, canning, pickling, flowers whether they be indoors or outside, she could never have too many. Mom would always be looking for a cutting or slip of a plant. Making perogies was what she was famous for / everyone loved her perogies with schaumntfaat.

Mom grew up in Neuhorst, Manitoba. She was the youngest of five siblings. Her mother died when she was only 18 months old, leaving her dad and eldest sister to look after the family. Mom and her siblings had to work extremely hard growing up. She absolutely loved and cherished her dad and had many fond memories of him growing up. She learnt the value of hard work and dedication at a very young age.

Mom led by example and taught us all the value of that hard work, dedication, perseverance, and strength which was the key to survival and success.

Our mother had 15 children: nine boys and six girls. She also had 47 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren whom she loved. Mom was the glue that kept our entire family together. She will be tremendously missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and absolutely everyone who knew her. Her favorite songs that lifted her spirit were, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, I’ll Fly Away, Why me Lord, Crystal Chandelier and numerous others.

Mom was baptized in May, 1996, and always had our Lord Jesus at the center of her life.

It is with deepest sadness and broken hearts we have to say goodbye to someone who meant the world to so many, but we find comfort in knowing we will meet again.
