Obituary

Walter Brandt, age 93, passed away peacefully at Heritage Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB. He now joins Alice, his beloved wife who passed away in 2015.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, Peter Brandt and Anna Heidebrecht. He was the youngest of 11 children and grew up on the farm in Rosenort, MB.

Walter worked in the warehouse at Cadbury’s and retired from Western Grocery in 1990 to spend more time with Alice.

Walter was a very talented and creative person. He enjoyed working in his large workshop in his basement on Tufnell Drive and built many birdhouses, wooden baskets, napkin holders and various wooden lawn ornaments… many of which he donated to neighbors and friends. He took pride and pleasure in caring for his yard, flowers, trees, bushes, birdbaths and garden on Tufnell Drive. He was always watering, fertilizing, trimming, painting or building something.

Travelling with Alice was a huge love for him as they made many road trips throughout Canada and the USA!

Walter enjoyed taking rides throughout the fall and spring to watch farmers work their fields. He was amazed by the size and capabilities of their farm equipment compared to what he grew up with on the farm. He had many stories to tell.

Walter found peace, tranquility and beauty in wildlife and birds. He even had a birdhouse mounted on the window in his room in Niverville and loved watching the birds come and go. They were well fed!

Walter… Rest in peace with Alice!

“Alice will meet you in the morning just inside the Eastern Gate!”

You will be dearly missed by the Pambrun Family… Henri & Barb, Diane & Scott (Zacharie & Dominique), Robert (Donavyn)! We will treasure the memories and fun times we spent together!

A big thank you to all the staff at Heritage Personal Care Home who treated Walter with dignity & love!
