La Broquerie was Dad’s hometown, where he raised his family on rue principale and where Mom still lives today. He was passionately involved with the La Broquerie sporting teams and played baseball, hockey and curling for many years. He undeniably passed down his love for sports to his children and grand-children. Dad spent countless hours cutting trees and splitting logs for fire wood. He held fond memories of his hunting and fishing adventures, two hobbies he enjoyed very much. Dad’s true passion was for gardening, he always had so many vegetables at harvest time. Especially his beautiful big tomatoes he collected from his 100 tomato plants. Dad also enjoyed playing cards and kept the cribbage board readily available on the table at all times.

Dad had many jobs but being a janitor at the Saint-Joachim school for 35 years was the career he loved the most. He crossed paths with many students, teachers and co-workers. Whom to this day will reach out and share a story or memory of Dad and how he left a special place with them. Guy was a generous and loving man. His dedication to his family was unwavering. He was passionate about get-togethers with his family and friends. Pépère was so proud of his grand-children and great grand-children, he cherished time spent with them. For that reason, Dad always considered himself to be a ‘Rich’ man even though he led a simple life. Pépère on t’aime beaucoup! On se revoit un jour! Dad your memory will be kept alive in our hearts forever.

The Taillefer family wish to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Villa Youville. To each and everyone of you who cared for Guy, we say a big Thank-you, Merci! In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Guy may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A funeral mass and celebration of Guy’s life will be held on Friday March 22nd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church, La Broquerie Manitoba.
