Obituary

Maria Hiebert was born to her parents, Jacob, and Anna Friesen, as the 2nd child, on July 13, 1955, in Paraguay. With her 10 siblings, she had a good childhood.

When Maria was 10 years old, the family moved to Bolivia. Where the beginning was hard, but still a good time as a family. The family stayed in Bolivia for 13 years, then moved back to Paraguay.

Maria was baptized on June 3, 1979, for her faith in God.

Soon after, she found her future husband, Jacob Hiebert. Whom she married on January 12, 1980.

On June 16, 1981, a daughter was born to them. Adelina cared for her mother so faithfully and with a lot of dedication until the end.

A little later, on August 21, 1983, a son, Albert, was born to them, who unfortunately died after only a few days.

In July 2003, Jacob and Maria decided to move to Canada. Their children, Adelina and Diedrich Giesbrecht, followed in September.

They lived for some time in Niverville, Manitoba and later moved to Vita, Manitoba.

Maria’s love language was giving and always had something for everyone who came to visit her. She also loved to talk about her time in Bolivia.

She also took great pleasure in her children and grandchildren.

On November 18, 2020, she had to say goodbye to her beloved husband, Jacob Hiebert. This was not easy for her, after almost 41 years of marriage.

Maria often said how much she missed him. But by God’s grace she was able to let go.

She also was able to ask God and people for forgiveness, and to learn to love all over again.

Her dear daughter Adelina, with her family, took Maria into their home and cared for her for the 3 years, 3 months, and 24 days that she lived as a widow. God has accompanied and guided them all through every situation.

Maria did not have an easy life. After the death of her husband, she suffered many strokes and became weaker and weaker as a result. After the one major stroke, she was hospitalized for a week, where she was exceptionally calm. On the way home, she said to Adelina, “I’m looking forward to seeing Jesus and my husband.”

She was ready to meet her Savior.

She went to be with Jesus on March 11, 2024, at 14:15.

She was preceded by her son, Albert Hiebert. One brother, Johann Friesen. Her parents, Jacob, and Anna Friesen. A grandson, Paul Giesbrecht. And her beloved husband, Jacob Hiebert.

Maria is survived by her children Adelina & Diedrich Giesbrecht and grandchildren Haiko, Rudi, Mark, John, and Lisa.

As well as 9 siblings with their families and a sister-in-law with her family.

The livestreamed funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Hope For All Church, Steinbach, MB., with viewing one hour prior to the service.

The interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
