Obituary

Lorraine passed away March 19 2024 at Action Marguerite Saint Vital at the age of 96 years.

Lorraine is survived by her children Brunel (Suzanne), Carol, Mona (Daniel), Rene (Angel), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is survived by sister Yolande (Paul-deceased) and brother Gilles.

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents Albert Breton and Marie Desautels , husband Laurent, son Paul (Eveline), brothers Richard (Lorraine) and Leo (Beatrice).

Lorraine volunteered for 40 years with the Manitoba Track and Field Association and was a top level official at Pan AM Games and Commnwealth Games, 30+ years with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3870, Paroisse St. Norbert, the Ladies Auxiliary of Mary Mother of the Church. Her creative outlets included crafts, sewing and needlework and the day could hardly start before she completed the Winnipeg Free Press crossword puzzle. Her careers include teacher, secretary and bookkeeper. She married Laurent in 1947 and together they raised 5 children and farmed in St Joseph up to 1967. In 1967 the farm was sold and the family moved to St. Norbert where Lorraine gained employment as secretary in the Seine River school division. In her spare time she took courses that led to positions in bookkeeping. Once retired, her interests moved to learning how to use a computer, emailing and surfing the Web. She was always curious of the world around her and how it worked and she was not afraid to at least try to be a part of it. She was not afraid to learn something new and she encouraged us to do the same.

Thank you Mom for your many years of guidance, support and most of all your unconditional love. We love you Mom and will miss you terribly.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the St. Norbert Catholic Church with interment at the St. Norbert Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the caring, patient and devoted nurses, health care aids and doctors of Action Marguerite St. Vital who cared for Mom. Their compassion and their expressions of respect and love for Lorraine brought much consolation to her family.
