Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Marie Florence Modler (Gauthier), on April 22nd, 2024. At age 74, she passed away peacefully in her home and in her sleep. She will now be in a better place, and awaiting family and friends to join her.

She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and anyone that has known her.

She is survived by her partner of thirty years; James Chopyk, her siblings; Orise, Leo, Arthur (Vivian), Roger, Richard, and Edwin (Claudette), her children; Michelle (Stuart) and Cyril, her grandchildren Stacey (Trenton), Trever (Renee), Seth, Jasmine, Jaiden, and her great grandchild; Lyla.

She was predeceased by her parents Wilfrid and Marie Antoinette, and siblings Alice, Edward, and Eva (Billy).

Marie was a very generous and supportive mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She willingly attended family functions of all kinds, including birthday celebrations, sporting events, holiday celebrations, and spontaneous visits. Marie’s personal time was spent tending to her garden and picking berries in the bush, and we all got to enjoy her labors of love.

Marie was a peacemaker, self-less in many ways, minimizing her own wants and needs, often putting the needs of others before herself. She demonstrated her caring beliefs and attitude through her work for many years as a Nurse’s Aid and Homecare Aid. Marie was a positive role model and altruistic in many ways, teaching others how to be meek and humble, yet caring and compassionate. May God give her eternal peace, and let her endearing love and kindness always be remembered and cherished in the present life.
