Nothing was more important to Dad than living in Ste-Agathe where he proudly farmed along the Red River, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and played hockey and baseball. He worked for the Rural Municipality of Ritchot and the Ste-Agathe Arena where he sharpened skates and tightened many laces with the gift of a smile and a slurpee. He volunteered many hours tilling around the trees to support the relocation of the Cheyenne Park. In his retirement, he continued to encourage his farming friends with visits in the fields and goodies to share.
At the Chalet he was the ‘ambassador’, sitting in his recliner chair, watching people go by, offering unsolicited advice and making sure Hutterite eggs and honey were plentiful for all to take home.
Dad was quite the character with always a story to tell. He knew everything and everyone, sharp as a tack and always right… now and forever.
Thank you to Dr. Chris Burnett & Karam at the Guardian Pharmacy in Niverville, the medical staff at the Centre Médical St-Pierre-Jolys and all the wonderful Homecare workers who cared for Dad with love and compassion.
A celebration of Dad’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 8th at 4:30pm at the Parc Cheyenne in Ste-Agathe (on PR 305 off HWY 75) followed by a reception.
Il y a longtemps que je t’aime. Jamais je ne t’oublierai.
We will miss you Dad, thank-you for all the laughs and memories.
