Kevin Peter Fast, age 63, of Steinbach, MB., passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, MB.
He is survived by: his son Kazz and one granddaughter Kyana Evelyn (Kristopher’s daughter); his adoptive siblings Wanda (Tim Kretchmer), and Rodney; his birth-family siblings Paul, John and Maxine Wyryha, Walter and Thelma Barkman, Arlene Wyryha (Ed), Aime and Pam Plett, Wayne Sykora and Sharon Sykora.
He was predeceased by: his son Kristopher; his adoptive parents Vern and Nettie Fast and brother Lloyd, his birth parents John and Margaret Wyryha and his siblings Gary Brandt, Duane Barkman (Candy) and Michelle Bellenger.
Kevin, as a child, was good-looking and intelligent. His adoptive parents loved him, and midst all the hardships, some beautiful things happened. They took some special trips together with the young family; one time to Disneyland and from there off to El Paso, Texas, to visit family. They also visited the Carlsbad Caverns; one time they travelled east to the Kakabeka Falls and down to Port Arthur and Fort William, where Kevin was most intrigued with a large Great Dane who resided at one of the motels.
He had a million-dollar smile, a bubbly personality and always tried his best to please everyone. As a young adult he made a career of becoming a welder which he enjoyed. Then on July 19, 1986, he was critically injured in a tragic accident from which he eventually recovered to some degree but never fully. During his best years he established a business called “Faust Do-All”, an intriguing handyman vocation. It was also during these best years that he made a commitment to Jesus Christ, was baptized by Pastor Dale Reimer at Calvary Chapel in 1993; and he faithfully attended the Springs Church for a number of years. He also loved to give, as he was able, to anyone he saw as needing it.
Sadly, the good things in his life were always too short-lived. He had many challenges to overcome. Thankfully there have also been many people in his life, devoted to helping him in one way or another. Arlene would like to take this opportunity to thank her brother Walter for his years of faithfully tending to Kevin’s needs and bringing him many a Boston Crème doughnut from Tim’s.
During the last number of years, Kevin was in care at Bethesda Place, and we are most grateful for the excellent care they gave him.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
