Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon, loving father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend, on Friday, June 21, 2024, Steinbach, MB.

He is survived by his son Michael, sisters Ellen (Joe), Sheila, (Real), nephew Ian, niece Lisa (John), great-niece (Sasha) and many friends.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents Robert & Christina Sargent.

Gord was born and grew up in Winnipeg. After graduation in 1979 from River East High School he entered the workforce. Gord would speak proudly of his skills and work experience in Customer Service and Office Administration with several companies, MTS, Pollard Bank Note, Carpathia Housing Corporation to name a few.

Gord loved to sing Barbershop music. He had been a 24 year member (1994-2018) singing Tenor with the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen Chorus as well as having served the Chapter in a number of leadership positions – Chapter President (1999), Membership VP, Wardrobe, Singing Valentines, Board Member at Large, Show Committees and Grey Cup Pool Chair. He also sang Tenor in the TEMPO Quartet. He also enjoyed the time when he had volunteered with the Prairie Theatre Exchange.

Everyone that knew Gordon has their own memories of his kindness and generosity.

As per Gordon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
