Noel Delaurier, aged 87 years, of La Broquerie, MB., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Rest Haven Care Home, Steinbach, MB.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jeannette, their children Jacqueline (Keven) Funk, Guy (Sheila) Delaurier, and Monique (Ron) Desorcy, as well as seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by brothers, sisters and many other family and friends.
Noel Delaurier was born in Laurier, MB., on May 7, 1937 and was raised on a farm as the third of 16 children. He and Jeannette met in Otterburne, MB., and were married on May 1, 1965 for 59 years.
Noel was a Jack-of-all-trades, and was whole-heartedly dedicated to whatever role he had as farmer, cobbler, lumber jack, miner, school bus driver, orderly, ambulance, and many others. He retired after working around 30 years in maintenance at La Villa Youville in Ste. Anne.
Noel’s greatest passion was in serving the church in a variety of ways. He volunteered to build the church and served for many years. His heart for God carried beyond into his three children and their spouses. Noel’s other interests included playing checkers with the grandchildren and others. He also enjoyed travelling to many places of which his trip to Israel in 1980 was his favorite as he was baptized there in the Jordan River.
Noel was a man of few words but showed his love through his generosity of time and effort by serving and helping others in whatever way was needed, whether family, friends or strangers. He was always quick to step in and take action.
Special thanks to the staff at Rest Haven Care Home for the exceptional care he received in his final days.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Noel may be made to Gospel Outreach.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing half hour prior to the service.
The interment will take place at Clearsprings Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
