Unexpectedly, we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather on July 3, 2024, at his home away from home; Friesen Accounting on Main Street in Steinbach, at the age of 78.
Ed was pre-deceased by his first wife, Edna; his parents, brother and three sisters.
Ed is survived by his wife Darlene; son Daryl (Susan); daughter Patricia (Kevin); grandsons Brayden (Jenn), Jaryn (Alyssa); and great granddaughters Ridley-Rose, and Clementine. Stepchildren Leanne (Tim), their children Evan and Brooklyn; Jennifer (Rob), and their children Lain and Taylor. As well as sister-in-law Veronica Friesen; numerous nephews and nieces. Ed will also be missed by many friends and clients.
Ed was born on August 21, 1945, in New Bothwell to Martin and Maria Friesen. Ed attended Arran School. He completed his education at Niverville Collegiate, graduating in 1964.
Ed developed an interest in carpentry in the early 1970’s. Ed started working for A.K. Construction. He was working on his journeyman certification for construction. Due to injury in 1977 that career ended.
As a result, Ed began job re-training at Red River Community College in the accounting field. From this Friesen Accounting was born and 54 years of service was given.
Ed attended the Bothwell Christian Fellowship Church.
He was also a proud fan of his Pistons and could always be heard cheering for his team.
A livestreamed celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on July 10, 2024, at Crossings Funeral Care with viewing one hour prior to service. For those unable to attend in person, the family invites you to join them through livestream. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ron Friesen. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Special thanks to Steinbach EMS, RCMP, and Crossings Funeral Care.
