Peacefully with his family by his side, Garry Ross, passed away on July 2 at the age of 91.He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, June, his children, Byron, Arden (Monique), Karen (Chris), and Kelly, his grandchildren, Daniel (Stef), Heather, Alyse, Tyler (Brandy), Katie (Rob), Bev (Anastasio) Bryce (Vannessa), Brittney (Ryan) and his great grandchildren Zoe, Lucy, Ava, Anna, Owen, Athos, and Scarlett, along with many nieces and nephews.
Garry was predeceased by his parents, Sherman and Violet Ross, along with his siblings Clayton, Norman, and Opal.
Garry was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba where he attended school and met and married the love of his life, June. It is also where he began his 38-year career working with Canadian National Railway. The family moved around a bit as the job required, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Garry spent many happy years with his family camping and golfing in the summers and curling in the winter.
When Garry retired from CN in 1987, they became snowbirds. In 1994, they sold their home in Winnipeg and moved to Morris where they spent their summers golfing and making Texas their home in the winter. Garry was a loyal member of The Royal Canadian Legion and active community volunteer. Garry enjoyed reading, selling 50/50 tickets at the Morris Stampede, his daily walks around the dyke and playing the VLTs at Burke’s.
Garry was the life of any party, singing, playing guitar and telling stories. His laugh was infectious and would have everyone in stitches.
The family wish to thank all of the staff at Morris General Hospital for the compassion and care shown to our Dad and Mom during the last few months.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
