(Anne) Esther Isaac (nee Konrad)

Obituary

Esther was born on March 21, 1936, in Winnipeg, to John and Anna Konrad. She was the 4th of 6 children. She grew up in a loving home where her parents instilled values of faith in God, respect, hard work, and honesty.

Esther inherited a love of music from her parents, and sang many solos, and in many groups and choirs throughout her life.

Esther accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at age 12, was baptized a year later and became a member of the church. She chose Isaiah 41:10 as her life verse, and relied on this promise all her life. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Esther moved to Winnipeg and joined the Elmwood church choir where she met Ernie Isaac. They were married 2 years later.

Ernie attended Bible College which eventually led Esther to being the wife of a pastor with its joys and challenges.

God blessed them with three beautiful, healthy daughters! They were her pride and joy! Esther pursued a career in the Optometric field at which she worked for almost 30 years, first in Manitoba and then in British Columbia. They also went on service assignments to Ecuador and Afghanistan, where she was able to use her training.

Challenges came that she had not expected which God used to grow her faith. His Word became very precious to her. She learned compassion so that being involved in Women’s ministry and mentoring women in the various churches she was involved in, brought her joy and fulfillment.

Ernie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2007. Esther cared for Ernie at home until his death. They had been married 52 years.

Esther was impressed with how much God had blessed her. He showered her with His love and grace, hope and joy. He blessed her in particular with the love and support of her daughters and their families, an extended family, friends, and a great church.

Esther passed away on July 16, 2024 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.

Esther was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; father and mother, John & Anna Konrad; her sister & brother-in-law, Katie and John Epp; son-in-law, Tim Fortune; sister-in-law, Irmgard Konrad and grandson Keith Wallace.

She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her three daughters and their families: Lynda Schellenberg, Kate, Ben and Julia; Joanne and Link Wallace, Drew; Patricia Fortune; 7 great grandchildren: Ryen, Austin, Kimber, Evelyn, Sloan, Margaret, Arthur; siblings: Henry & Evelyn Konrad, John Konrad, Martha & Harry Janzen, Wanda & Jeral Becker; numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends.

Celebration of Life for Esther will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Crossings Funeral Care in Steinbach.
