Obituary

Colin Jessie Bernardin Hebert, 32, was taken from us suddenly on August 7th, 2024.

A private viewing will be held Friday August 16, 2024, and is by invitation only.

Colin was born June 26, 1992, at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg.

Colin was a kind, generous and sensitive man, only wanting to be loved and to love. He was a very angry boy for most of his life after his father committed suicide when he was only three years of age. He never gave up on himself, just like his mother and sister never gave up on him. We always loved him unconditionally encouraging him to do better, to move forward and to try and be happy.

Colin and his mother had a special bond, she became his lifeline during the time he was incarcerated. Colin needed to make a point in this world and unfortunately, he turned to crime and drugs for solace.

Colin is survived by his mother, Angele Bernardin, his sister, Andree McLachlan, his grandmother, Denise Rivard and his aunts Renee Bernardin Kern (Det Kern) and Gina Bernardin (Benoit Poirier).

His life was complicated, his ending was tragic, and yet; in the short time he walked this earth, he shone like a bright light, illuminating the lives of others who knew him . May you now rest in peace Colin.

Every moment with you was precious. Your love fills our heart with happiness and joy. We cherish you, and will forever miss you, Colin. It’s an ongoing battle to balance the pain and guilt of outliving your child with the desire to live in a way that honors them and their time on this earth. An out-of-order death such as child loss breaks a person (especially a parent) in a way that is not fixable or solvable. We will learn to pick up the pieces and move forward, but our lives will never be the same. Every grieving parent must find a way to continue to live with loss, and it’s a solitary journey.

We appreciate your support and hope you can be patient with us as we find our way.
