Obituary

Excited about Jesus for 92 years, Margaret (nee Dormer) arrived in heaven and is walking streets of gold.

She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Anna, her husband Jake, sister Anne, brother-in-law Neil, sisters-in-law Susie and Mary Jo, her nephew-in-law Roland and nephew Cory. In addition, step sons-in-law Gordon and Eldon, step daughter-in-law Marlene, and step daughter Esther.

She is survived by her brothers Henry, John and Ernie (Darlene), nephews and nieces and their families. She is also survived by her step-daughter-in-law Anita, and step-grandchildren and their families.

Margaret was born on John Bruce Road, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the third of five children. Her family was a part of the Church of God every Sunday. Margaret attended the College St. Joseph in St. Boniface, and then attended the Alberta Bible Institute 1953-1954. She then went to nursing school in Edmonton and graduated with her LPN in 1959. She moved back to Winnipeg and worked at the Health Science Centre as well as with Home Care. She lived in an apartment on Furby.

Margaret married Jacob Kroeker in 1978, and was married 21 years until his passing in 2000. She loved her new family.

Margaret loved to do things at a fast pace. She had incredible independence, energy, strength and flexibility for being over 90 years old. She was very disciplined with her exercise and eating, and was always trying to gain weight. When she got excited, she seldom finished a sentence, as mid-sentence her next thought took over and she couldn’t help but start a brand-new one. She loved to read, to learn, to study, to write everything in small detail with her mechanical pencil, and to attend any and every Christian conference, workshop or seminar available. She led the Hymn sing in her building for years. She was passionate about the Word of God, prayer, and for her family, friends and the world to be saved.

Margaret enjoyed to be with and talk on the phone with family and friends. She cared deeply for those in need, and gave generously to all kinds of missions and ministries all throughout her life. She only purchased clothes at the thrift store, and would cut her own hair to intentionally donate the money to a ministry.

After receiving a wonderful breakthrough in counselling by her Christian doctor at age 79, Margaret was very excited to celebrate her 80th birthday. For the past 12 years she experienced more peace, joy and faith that she loved to share.

As happy as we are that she is with Jesus, she will be greatly missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

This precious little lady was one of a kind.

The livestreamed funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Braeside EMC at 1011 Monroe Ave. Winnipeg, lunch to follow.
