Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Prette in her home, with her loving family at her side.

She was predeceased by her parents William & Doris Hill.

Leaves to cherish her memories are, her loving husband Wayne Prette, son Shawn (Lana) Hill & granddaughter Addison Agecoutay-Hill, son Travis Prette, granddaughter Jasmine, two grandsons Seth & Logan Prette. Her brother Tom (Judy) Hill, sister Kathy (Pat) Wiggins, brother David (Patty) Hill. All her nieces and nephews, great nieces & nephews.

Mary was born November 16, 1944, in London, England. She left London, England after World War 2 in 1946 and came to Canada to start her new life journey. Graduating high school from the army base in Victoria, BC, she took schooling in Winnipeg, MB to become a respiratory therapist, graduating head of her class in 1971. Mary became the director of the respiratory therapist ward at the King George Hospital. She was well liked by her polio patients, respected by her colleagues. All her colleagues and patients would find it funny every time she got paged on the ward they said “Mary Prette please”.

She married on September 1, 1979, in Winnipeg, MB to Wayne Prette. She belonged to the Christadelphian Church for many years she was very involved in the church, very knowledgeable of the Bible. She volunteered on Saturdays in Steinbach at the bowling lanes to keep score for the handicap people, something she enjoyed doing. She was a supportive mother to her children, no matter what they did. Her hobbies were bowling, curling and reading the Bible.

The funeral services will be held at 11 am on August 28, 2024, at Crossings Funeral Care, 12E-40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, MB.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Southeast Home Care, workers and palliative nurses and doctors involved, to Dr. Illychna and Dr. Reimer for their kindness and compassionate care. Special thank you to the Book Road Christadelphian Ecclesia for all their support, care and all their prayers. Mary really enjoyed all the cards she received.
