Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Reg Freund on August 19, 2024.

He leaves to mourn his son Tyler Freund, mother Adelaide Freund, brother Don (Charlene) Freund, their children Austin, Robin, sister Gaylene (Derrick) Mehling, their children Lyle and Shelley (Peyton, Paisley, Isla) Cole and Rebecca, Trent and Kallyn (Jase, Lindy, Beau) sister-in-law Diana Freund her children Branden and Theresa (Allyson, Randy) Dayna.

Reg was predeceased by his dad Rudolf Freund June 8, 2017, and brother Randolph (Randy) Freund July 8, 2005.

Reg was born in Vancouver, BC. As a toddler Mom, Dad and Reg moved back to the Friedensfeld area (Manitoba)

Reg had the “Gift of the Gab” and became a sales representative for Colgate Palmolive. After that he accepted a transfer to Thunder Bay Ontario, working for Johnson and Johnson. So off to Thunder Bay went Reg and Jan. After settling down, in 1984 they adopted their newborn son Tyler Dale.

Reg became a real estate agent, and at the same time they owned a popcorn, fruit and nut kiosk in the Victoria Mall. He also purchased a “camp” at Hicks Lake.

Reg then moved on to purchase Nippers Take Out, serving fresh cut fries and Coney Island style burgers and hotdogs.

Reg’s love for his family was evident in the numerous trips back home. He enjoyed camping with family at Hallock, Dauphin, Rainy River and Brainerd.

Reg’s passion for muscle cars led him to numerous racetracks. He started restoring cars and racing some of them. His love for cars and a heavy foot, many memories were made with family, cousins and friends at Brainerd, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Crossings Funeral Care, in Steinbach MB.
