Obituary

Randy Schultz, 58, of Steinbach, MB., passed away suddenly Sunday, August 25, 2024, near Vita, MB.

He is survived by his wife Carlanna, children Trenton (Erin), Mason, and Kailey; and grandsons Hudson & Asher. He is also survived by his parents Elmer & Edna Schultz, two brothers, Russell and Dallas, one sister, Jennifer, and their families. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Edna Plett, and his wife’s siblings, Reg (Peggy), Lynn (Catherine), Maynard (Lisa), Geraldine (Kelly) and their families. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Larry Rea and father-in-law Ruben Plett.

Randy was born on April 20, 1966 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Kleefeld. He met Carlanna in 1990 when he suddenly had to pick up tractor parts from Reimer Farm Supplies, after learning she worked there. They were married on May 22, 1993. Together, they welcomed Trenton, Mason, and Kailey into the world. Randy loved his family fiercely.

Randy accepted Jesus at an early age and was baptized at Elim Church in Grunthal. He took his faith in Jesus very seriously. He read his Bible almost daily (one of the items found in his truck was his pocket bible in the console that he always carried with him) and spent a lot of time in prayer. He strived to become a better person just as we were called to do, but often his shortcomings would leave him feeling empty. Despite that, he continued to serve and love on people. He was selfless, humble, patient, loving and gentle to all his family, friends, co-workers, his dear El’dad participants, and even strangers.

In Randy’s early adult life, he enjoyed traveling and went to many countries including Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, and Europe. Randy loved sharing stories of his travels. Randy also served on the Kleefeld Fire Department and as a First Responder and had many stories of his time being a firefighter and First Responder. Eventually he went on to be a paramedic for Eastman Health. Randy worked in the hog industry, with the last almost 8 years being at Progressive Group. Randy was also a devoted direct support worker at El’dad Ranch for the last 23 years where he showed his love and grace for people every day.

Randy supported Carlanna in her studies and encouraged her to keep going even when things were hard for her. He was Carlanna’s rock and her protector. Randy supported his kids in all of their endeavours as well; Trenton with his sports and business; Kailey with her schooling and in her job at El’dad; Mason with his passions of sports and politics. He also loved his daughter-in-law, Erin, and was very proud of the mother she was to his grandsons.

He was so proud of his kids and the lives they’ve been living. More recently, Randy got to watch his grandsons grow and spend time loving on them. He was so proud of Hudson and Asher and those two little boys knew they were so loved by their grandpa.

Randy put hours upon hours of work into his cabin near Stuartburn. He was so proud of his cabin and loved having people join him there. Randy and Carlanna enjoyed a beautiful evening together at the cabin the day before his passing.

Randy will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and community members who had the pleasure of knowing him.

We the family just want to say thank you to all our family, friends, neighbors and business communities who have shown so much kindness to us by bringing food, flowers, support visits and prayers. It is much appreciated.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7
