Obituary

Rudolf Otto Schlick passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the age of 89.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor, children Heidi (Kelly), Lorelei (Glenn Nakauchi), Ruth of Winnipeg, MB., Albert of Regina, SK; sister Marianne Siaflekis of Edmonton, AB., and her children, sister Margot Field of Edson, AB., and her family; also by many more cherished family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Rudolf & Marianne, brother Carl and brother-in-law Ed Field of Edson, AB.

Rudolf grew up on a dairy farm where there was much to do. As a young man he worked summers to pay for his Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees. Soon, he married a nurse, started a family, and bought a house. He launched his career – working for the province as a biologist.

He loved nature, wildlife, and fishing. Summers were enjoyed at the cottage at Clearwater Lake. He excelled at gardening and horticulture, winning many ribbons for his tomatoes and gladioli.

He donated blood regularly, attended church faithfully, and was an ever-present husband and father. He had a keen interest in his ancestry and a passion for genealogy.

He enjoyed trips to Florida, Germany, and Australia but always looked forward to his trips back home to Alberta.

He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

A family graveside service will be held at Southside Cemetery in Morden, Manitoba.
