Obituary

Dan Demchenko, 92, of Steinbach, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in his residence surrounded by family members.

Dan was born on January 1, 1932 in Maple Creek Saskatchewan to John and Zenova Demchenko. Following high school he moved to Winnipeg to pursue a career as an auto mechanic. While in Winnipeg he met the love of his life Patricia Doyle. They were married on June 10th 1961. They began raising their family in the Transcona area while Dan worked at Parkside Ford and attended Red River Community College for a teaching certificate. The family moved to Steinbach in 1972 and Dan started teaching the Power Mechanics course at the newly opened Steinbach Regional Secondary School. Dan completed his teaching profession and retired in 1993. Dan remained very active in his retirement with many winters spent in Arizona and summers at their cabin in Buffalo Point which he eventually turned into a retirement home.

Always quick witted, cheerful with never a negative emotion towards anyone, Dan will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patty and is survived by his three sons and one daughter, John, Danny, Michael and Tricia along with five grandchildren.

Special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Rest Haven who assisted him in his final days.

A private service was held.
