It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Mae Thiessen, who left us for her heavenly home on October 11th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 59 years old.
Born January 16th, 1965, in Devon, Alberta, to a wild and broken family, Sharon became a beacon of love, strength, and kindness despite the hardships she was forced to endure. She chose to dedicate her life to her family, friends and her faith in God.
Sharon married the love of her life Traviss Thiessen on January 25th, 1986. Together they built a beautiful life full of adventure, a home full of children and an extended community of loving friends.
As a devoted mother, Sharon nurtured her children with endless love and support. Her greatest mission was to create a good home for her family where they all felt comfort and safety. She was a force of life, a strong matriarch, and her legacy of love and resilience will forever live on in their hearts.
Sharon’s compassion and love was not only reserved for her family but poured out into everyone around her. Every person who came into her life was filled with the warm embrace of her love.
Sharon was a creator. She brought life into everything she did. She turned what was ordinary into extraordinary. She was a master at restoring what’s broken and making everything around her beautiful. Her craftsmanship was a direct reflection of the inner workings of her heart and how she viewed people. To her, every person held beauty, there was no one incapable of restoration. She believed we all came from nothing and can become extraordinary. This was the heartbeat of her life, the thing that kept her strong even in the darkest times in her life.
Sharon held on to her faith and hope that even in darkness the light of Jesus shines through. Let this light shine through in our memory of her.
Although her faith in God and his love was tested many times she clung to her hope in Jesus to the end. In her final days she clung to these words from Isaiah 46:4 “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
She is survived by her spouse, Traviss, her children, Shayne (Maria and their children Davina and Elaina), Luke (Nikki and their son Jack), Shania (Coltin), Caleb, and James. She will also be remembered by her brother Lloyd, and sisters Connie, Patti, and Cynthia along with a host of extended family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her father Harvey, brother Billy and nephew Brock.
Though she is no longer with us, her example in life will continue to inspire and guide us.
The livestreamed funeral service will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.. at Ridgewood Church, Ridgewood, MB.
