Obituary

Kylian Hildebrand, 3 years and 7 months old, of Grunthal, MB., passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Children’s Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

He is survived by his parents Paul and Agnes, his brother and three sisters.

Kylian was an exceptionally sweet and precious boy.

He was very affectionate to his mom and dad. He would often express his love throughout the day. He always wanted hugs and kisses, and his whole family misses those a lot.

During all the months of his illness, he would reveal his bravery by saying he was strong by showing his big muscles. He always had a ready smile. Kylian was a fighter and always wanted to win. Listening to children’s songs made him very happy.

Kylian really loved the Open House at the Grunthal Fire Department this fall. He especially enjoyed the ride on the Firetruck around his hometown. He was thrilled to have his picture taken with an RCMP constable and a police car. Every time the family drove by the Fire Department, Kylian fondly remembered the times he had there.

Kylian’s favorite activity was playing in the sandbox. He loved going to the park and playing with his train tracks. When the family went shopping, he wouldn’t forget to remind his mom to get his favorite meal of fries.

Just after a year on Kylian’s journey to beat cancer, after weeks of isolation to be able to go back to Toronto again for more treatments, the family received the heartbreaking news on November 4, that the cancer was back.

At that point, Paul and Agnes took Kylian home. A week before Kylian passed, he woke up his parents to let them know that something was moving from his bed to the kitchen. His mom put on the light and reassured him that there was nothing to see. Kylian insisted that there was something. In the morning, Kylian’s mom asked him if he saw a person or an angel. Kylian responded by saying it was an angel.

Four days before Kylian passed, at night, he heard someone singing over him from his head to his toes. This time, his mom asked him in the morning if he heard a toy or an angel. Kylian affirmed that he had heard an angel sing to him.

After hearing those two angel encounters, Paul and Agnes knew Kylian’s passing was near and with tears of surrender, they released their son’s life to the Lord.

One the day before Kylian passed, he left his bedroom and went into the living room to hug his parents in a group hug, saying: “I love you, Mom and Dad, together.” That was the last time that Kylian was able to verbalize his love for his parents.

Before he passed away, Kylian was surrounded by songs about heaven. When visitors left, Kylian sat up, even though that was deemed impossible and nodded when the family wanted to pray with him.

It is a great assurance, because of their strong faith in God, that Paul and Agnes know that one day, they will see their sweet son again. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation for all ongoing prayers, the help with Kylian’s siblings and the food provided. It helps a lot. Thank You!
