John Neufeld was born March 13,1935 in Giroux Manitoba and was raised in Grunthal. He met his wife Joanne (Harder) and they were married on July 8, 1956. They lived in Winnipeg and Steinbach and raised their four children in various homes, especially enjoying entertaining many relatives in their country farm Maplewood Acres.
He started working at 14 for his father and had several careers such as truck driver for Penner International, custodian for SRSS, and Maintenance Supervisor for the Hanover School Division.
When he retired, he enjoyed wood carving in the workshop he built and formed his band The Workshop Boys who played at various venues throughout southeastern Manitoba including the Pat Porter Center and the Manitoba Heritage Village Museum and recorded many cds. He was a self taught musician and playing his violin was his favorite hobby for which he had a natural affinity and talent. He also recorded several cds with his son Robert who was an exemplary pianist and played the pipe organ.
He is remembered by countless friends, contemporaries, and relatives as the most kind, generous, loving, very humorous, hardworking, and creative soul. He always kept his word, his unwavering faith in God, and was a strong and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and a friend to all.
He and his wife Joanne built a life based on love and kindness. As a family we traveled from the western Rockies to the southern states and enjoyed so many adventurous vacations. His favorite thing was to bring laughter and light into life and always always fun.
Much gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Rest Have for all your hugs, loving words and deeds, and the care and thoughtfulness you showed our family as we escorted our father gracefully and with much tears and laughter into his heavenly home.
His favorite verse was John 3:16 ” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Johnny raise your fiddle high and fly!
