Obituary

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Maria Enns, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully with her daughters and family at her side.

Maria is survived by two daughters & one son, Heather Ruth Wiebe (John), John Kenneth Enns (Julie), Rosemarie Dawn Friesen (Pete), 12 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Tina Klippenstein.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John Howard Enns, parents Jacob & Katherine Wiens, brothers Jacob & Leonard Wiens, and sister Helen.

Maria was married to her sweetheart on June 20,1953, they had 69 wonderful years together.

In the early 1960’s Maria taught kindergarten in the basement of their home. While starting her own family she also went to school for hairdressing. She opened Mary’s Beauty Manor in the basement of their home. Her love of teaching led her to teach pioneer girls club in a local church, teaching piano and she loved sewing clothes for her growing family. She designed and sewed her own clothes and both her daughter’s wedding dresses.

Later on she moved her business out of the basement into Dads building on main street and changed the name to Hair Hut. As more space became available Mom added a craft & fabric shop. She then sold her business and pursued her lifelong dream of getting her grade 12 education and then enrolled at Red River Community College to get her teaching certificate. She taught hairdressing at Miles Mac High School in Winnipeg for a few years.

In 1990, she and Rose started a new business called Country Snacks in Dads building.

After their retirement in 1996, Mom and Dad continued their passion for traveling with destinations such as Israel, Philippines, Hawaii and Caribbean cruises. They purchased a Dodge travel van and went to Alaska and coast to coast in Canada and south in winter.

Mom loved her family and until recently still prayed for everyone by name so she wouldn’t forget anyone. Mom was a prayer warrior, loved Jesus and her family.

She really missed Dad and we are thankful they are together again.
