Obituary

Harvey Penner, 58, of Ridgewood, MB., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, doing what he loved – caring for his farm and preparing to celebrate the holidays with his family.

Harvey was born on March 5, 1966, in Rubio, Mexico. At just three weeks old, he moved with his parents to Beausejour, MB., before settling on the family dairy farm in Ridgewood, which would become his lifelong home. Harvey grew up with a deep love for farming and hard work, qualities that shaped his life and career.

He married the love of his life, Rhonda, in June of 1989. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and a shared passion for horses and the outdoors. Harvey’s commitment to excellence extended beyond the farm to his construction business, Best Level Construction, which became known throughout the region for quality craftsmanship and integrity. Throughout his many years of business Harvey was always innovating. In 2017 he purchased his first boom truck, then earned his mobile crane ticket because if others could do it, why couldn’t he?

Harvey was a man of deep faith who believed in a gracious and forgiving God. He took on leadership roles in his church community and lived out his faith through his generosity and kindness. Whether he was framing homes, hosting team penning competitions, or lending a helping hand, Harvey’s hard work and love for others shone through in all he did.

He adored his children and grandchild, cherishing every moment spent cheering them on at hockey games, music recitals, and family activities. Harvey also had a love for adventure, traveling to places like Australia, Mexico, Germany, and Tanzania, where he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with his brother-in-law. He also competed in the 3-Year-Old Cutting Horse Futurity in Fort Worth, Texas.

Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 36 years, Rhonda; his children, Nathaniel; Rebecca (Tyson) and granddaughter Aria; Matthew (Kaitie) and daughter Rachel; his sisters Leanna (Bob) Reimer and Emily (Adam) MacDonald; nieces and nephews; his father-in-law Eric; and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Rose Penner, and his mother-in-law, Anne.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the emergency responders and HEART (Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Rescue Team) for their care and support on Christmas Eve.

The livestreamed celebration of Harvey’s life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Crossview Church, Steinbach, MB.
