It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marcel Roy of Otterburne on November 21, 2024 with his loved ones at his side.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Charlotte, son Donald, (Kelly), brother Michel, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim (Vi), Robert, Sylvia (Paul), Diane (Terry), David, Raymond (Jennifer) and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Napoléon and Béatrice Roy and his sister-in-law Pat Perron.
Marcel was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm north-east of St. Pierre-Jolys. In 1955 the family moved to a farm in Otterburne West. He remembered his childhood as one full of adventure, joy and hard work.
Marcel married Charlotte on July 19, 1968 and they lived next to the family farm. Showing an interest in the plumbing trade, he decided to start his own plumbing business which he continued for 38 years until his retirement.
He was always willing to help the family and anyone who encountered plumbing issues. Great pleasure was taken in teaching his son many skills of the trade and in the art of exterior illumination. For entertainment he enjoyed curling in men’s and mixed curling and bonspiels for many years. He loved playing cards with family and friends. Some of his hobbies were woodworking, candle making, decorating and listening to music. His cooking knowledge was great and everyone enjoyed what he served at our family gatherings. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Otterburne Curling Club Committee.
Marcel will be sadly missed but always in our thoughts.
The funeral service will be held on January 18, 2025 at 11:00 am, at St. Viateur Parish Church, Otterburne, Manitoba.
The family would like to sincerely thank Home Care and the staff at Ste. Anne Hospital and De Salaberry District Health Center. A special thanks to Christine and Chloe who went above and beyond their call of duty for us.
A private internment will take place at a later date.
