Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Helen Paskaruk. Mom passed away peacefully at the Vita and District Heath Centre in Vita on January 8th, 2025 at the age of 87.

Helen will be remembered by her children Ivan (Marge), Robert (Syliva), grandchildren, Steve (Melinda), Sherry (Paul), Jeremy (Ashley), step granddaughter Lindsey (Garry), great grandchildren Breygan, Kyson, Chase, Ryder, Kezley, Eden, Bryce, Hayden, Gray, Rhys, step grandchildren Marissa and Abby, and sisters Mary Varkerti and Anne Coombs.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Nick, her parents Steve and Rose Werestiuk, sister Nellie, Brother in-law Joe Varkerti and Eric Coombs and close friend George Broesky.

Helen married Nick Paskaruk on July 31st, 1954 and together they began their life on a family farm in Sundown, Manitoba. Due to dad’s passing in 2002 mom continued to live on the farm until 2007 and moved to Vita.

Mom loved her flowers, gardening, caring for her chickens and all the farm animals, she enjoyed berry and mushroom picking. Mom always enjoyed company, insisting to enjoy a drink with her while her favourite music played in the background.

Mom, you will be missed, rest in peace.

The family would like to send their thanks and appreciation to the Southern Health Home Care Workers and the Vita and District Heath Care Centre for their compassion and excellent care you have provided to our mother and to our family.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date in spring.
