Our dear mother and aunt, Norma Eileen Dueck, was taken home by the angels on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach MB., reaching the age of 80 years.
She was born on October 5,1944, in Winnipeg, MB. As a babe she was lovingly welcomed into the home of David P. and Gertrude Dueck. She grew up on the farm near Ste. Anne, MB. Norma received her education at the Montezuma School.
She gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on November 20, 1956. She upheld the faith to the end.
Norma was first employed as a nurse aide at the Greenland Home. Following that, she worked at the Winnipeg Children’s Home for many years. Her compassionate nature eventually led her to care for children in her home.
We, as nieces and nephews, enjoyed her good cooking and it was always a treat to go visit her. We remember the beautiful birthday cards she gave us. Sometimes she would take us nieces along to visit the children’s homes in Winnipeg. We made it there and back in record time!
After living in the country for many years, Norma moved to a house in Steinbach, MB. As her health declined and she needed more care, she moved into the Maplewood Manor in May 2024, where she resided until her passing.
Those left behind with precious memories are Rennie, Bradley, Chasity and Tina, nieces and nephews: Ken and Leudy, Sherri and Matt, Brian, Lana and Rick, Russ, Warren and Lorrie, Lavonne, Ron and Janice and a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marjorie, her brother Jake, and sister-in-law Anne.
Special thanks for the excellent care given to aunt Norma by the Maplewood Manor staff, the Bethesda Hospital staff and her niece Lavonne.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., followed by the devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the Greenland Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Greenland, MB., followed by the interment at the Greenland Church of God in Christ, Mennonite Cemetery.
