Obituary

After a 10 year fight with cancer, we now say goodbye to our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend, Betty Lou Katherine Harder (Block) who passed away at the age of 70, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at De Salaberry District Health Centre, St. Pierre, MB.

She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Helen Block, and her brothers Peter and John Block and granddaughter Emily Harder.

Left to cherish her memory are her spouse of 55 years, Peter, son Jerry (Michele) Harder, daughters Josie (Earl) Fast, Sheila (Dwaine) Harder, and Christie (Mark) Harder and grandchildren: Taylor Fast, Micheal Harder, Michaela Fast, Mackenzie Harder, Riley Fast, Shadaye Fast, Morgan Harder, Samuel Harder, Tassani Fast, William Harder, Ella Harder along with their partners; her sister Mariann Martens, brothers James, Al, Ed Block as well as many family and friends whom she loved.

Betty was born in Steinbach, MB., on December 29, 1954, where she spent her childhood years on the family farm.

Betty married her husband Peter Harder and raised four children, Josie, Jerry, Sheila, Christie in Niverville, MB.

Betty’s passion was working with elderly people. She enjoyed organizing the Tuesday Meal Program which served Seniors in Niverville. She was well known and loved in the community and made many friends through her involvement here.

Thank you for all the prayers and support these last months. We would like to acknowledge and thank the family and friends that came out and visited with Betty during her last months with us. We would also like to thank Birchwood Funeral Chapel for their care.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Niverville Community Fellowship, Niverville, MB.
