Obituary

Susan Mary Ann Funk (nee Wiens), aged 80 years, of Mitchell, Manitoba, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at her residence.

She is survived by her husband Leslie, their children Keven (Jacqueline), Curtis (Lisa), Murray (Louise), Eric (Jennifer), as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Harry (Dorothy) and nieces and nephews: Colin (Shirley), Carla (Pete), Trevor (Adrienne), Bonnie (Gary) and their respective families.

She was predeceased by her father Johann P. Wiens (1952), mother Susan Wiens (1966), sister Orpha Funk (2012), and brother John B. Wiens (2025).

Susan was born in Steinbach, MB., on May 3, 1944, and was raised on the homestead in Rosengard together with her older brother John, and younger sister Orpha. She married Leslie on November 19,1960.

In addition to raising her four sons Susan worked outside the home at different jobs: Kasper’s Pic and Pay selling shoes, a healthcare worker for Bethesda hospital, also at Allison’s dress shop in Steinbach to mention a few. She eventually went to Hairdressing school and got her license as a hairdresser, a passion she enjoyed for many years. Over the years, she often offered to cut hair for family members or friends if she saw it looked like their hair needed a trim. She will be remembered for her love for the Lord Jesus, her generous spirit and the love she showed to all those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she so lovingly served.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
