Mom was born to John & Anne Funk on May 6, 1956. She went to school in Lister East and Grunthal later. Mom worked at the St. Malo sewing factory and dietary aide at Bethesda Hospital before she met our Dad.
After marrying our Dad on August 28,1976 they settled in Pansy, MB. Our parents were youth leaders at Pansy Chapel and Mom also volunteered on the church retreat committee. Mom worked for many years in Home Care. Mom started A-I Cleaning Services which is still operating today with partners. Mom also started Let’s Celebrate Rentals with her sister and worked at this for 25 years, then the business was sold.
After moving to Steinbach Mom also set up Pillars banquets at Southland Church for several years. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others, including her children.
Mom was a woman of deep faith and prayer. She was generous with her love, her time, her energy, and her money.
Mom was a great planner. She loved to plan events that would usually include a theme, decorations, food and games. Her planning abilities spilled over into every area of her world really. Her organization skills were remarkable. And the schedules! Wow!
Mom & Dad loved taking vacations and cruising, completing nine cruises before COVID happened. Most of these vacations were done with family or friends.
We want to thank the Southern Health Palliative Care Team and the many health care workers at Bethesda who took care of her. A big thank you to the ladies that spent many nights with Alvina.
