It is with sad and very heavy hearts that we would like to share the news that very suddenly on Thursday February 27, 2025, Steve left us on the wings of his dad and brother. Steve was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather. Steve leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Karen, his three children Elyscia, Chris (Jade) and Chelsey (Mike). His 10 grandchildren, Kylie (Meagan), Alex (Jack), Maddison, Nolan; Caitllin (Kalvin), Lucas, Connor; Zoey, Jack and Morgan.
He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Sharon, Suzie, Sheila and Sandra and brother Richard (Andrea) and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Steve is pre-deceased by his mother and father, Agnus and Ronald Hopkins, his brothers Dave and Ron Jr. Hopkins.
Steve was born on December 4, 1955, at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Along with his parents and siblings they moved to Nanaimo BC where he lived until he joined the army for 3 years. After that he went to work in Alberta on the oil rigs. During his career as a Drilling Fluid Technician, he travelled around Canada. He went on to pursue his overseas career starting in Libya, which led him to other opportunities in other places such as Malta and Tunisia. He then traveled to the Middle East, ending his career in the UAE in 2018.
When he was not working providing for his family, Steve enjoyed building boats with his brother (many were started, none were completed), sailing, flying planes with flight simulator, astronomy, attempts at beer making, and building computers. But most of all, his passion was his family.
Steve will be greatly missed by many, but most of all, his wife, his kids and grandchildren.
A special thank you to the Dominion City Volunteer Fire Department EMT services for their compassion, quick response, and dedication to life saving attempt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The Family of Steve Hopkins would like to thank Corey at Morris Funeral home for his complete devotion to meet all of our needs.
