Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tante Helen on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She passed away peacefully at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB., with a family member by her side.

Tante Helen is survived by her nieces and nephews, Floyd (Dorothy), Wayne, Elaine (Ron), Craig, Diane (Steve), Laurie (Curt), Gordon (Pam), Sandi (Edward) and great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Neta & Peter Penner, sisters and brothers-in-law Nettie and Harry Block and Mary and Albert Driedger.

Tante Helen was born in the RM of Hanover and lived in Gnadenthal, MB., till the age of 14 when the death of her father prompted the family to move to Grunthal. After graduating she moved to Winnipeg and became employed with Eatons. While working for Eatons she was transferred to Calgary, Alberta, and worked there for several more years as a manager before moving back to Manitoba. She then was employed by Hignell Printing till she retired and moved back to Grunthal.

She had the amazing gift to speak to each one of her nieces and nephews as though they were the most important person in that moment. She truly was someone who was present in any situation and we all benefited from her attention, understanding and compassion.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Greendale Estates for their compassionate and wonderful care of our Tante Helen. We also want to acknowledge the staff at the emergency center at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre during the time Tante Helen was there. We appreciate the time you took to answer our many questions and the care you gave her.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date with an ash interment to follow.
