Obituary

Sara D. Unger, aged 72 years, of Vita, MB., passed away accidentally, on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

She is survived by two daughters, four sons, two sisters, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

She was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and seven brothers.

Sara was born on December 12th, 1952, in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

She married Diedrich Unger on September 20th, 1974. In 1991, together they immigrated to Canada. In 1995, both decided to move out of the city and onto a farm in Arbakka, MB., where they raised cattle, homesteaded, and then planted crops. Sara was a mother of six. Looking after the household on the 160 acre ranch the two of them moved to in 1995. She committed the majority of her life to working with social services caring and raising children prior to them finding their forever homes. Sara was involved in the community and would often lend her culinary skills to potlucks at the Vita Bible Church.

The livestreamed funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The interment will take place at Sunrise Cemetery, Vita, MB.
