Isaac Peters passed away peacefully, at Heritage Life Personal Care Home, Niverville, MB., on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, five months short of his 100th birthday.
He is survived by brothers Ed and Henry. He will also be missed by Hedy’s children Elaine (Pete), Roy, Bettie Anne (Larry), Gary (Laurie), her grandsons Nate, Jackson, Alex, Jordan (Christina) and great-grandson Henry, as well as both Peters extended families.
He was predeceased by his wife Hedy (nee Peters), with whom he shared 27 years with before her passing in 2023.
Isaac was born September 11, 1925 to James and Aganetha Peters, the fifth of 11 children. He worked on the family farm, north of Plum Coulee, eventually marrying Elizabeth Hoeppner and moving to Winnipeg, where he worked in home construction. They had three daughters, Carol, Lorna, and Brenda. Divorce separated the family and Isaac eventually returned to farming south of St. Adolphe. Although he was estranged from his daughters, he loved them dearly. He was subsequently predeceased by Elizabeth, daughter Carol and granddaughter Tammy. Later in life he was thrilled to meet two of his granddaughters, Naomi and Tannis. That meant the world to him!
Encouraged by his brother Bill, Isaac started attending church in St. Adolphe, where he met Hedy.
Ike married our mom Hedy Peters on July 19, 1997. They started their married life on a very “soggy” farm. It was the 1997 flood and farm land and their house were all under water. The Red Cross came through for them and they received a beautiful new home. They, along with Hedy’s family loved being on the farm. There was so much to do there, gardening, picking raspberries, fishing, ski-dooing and more.
Ike loved to tinker on vehicles and other machinery in his huge machine shop. Mom loved to bake and cook and all visitors were well fed.
As the years went by, Mom and Ike aged, which made it harder to manage life on the farm. Ike had his eye on a new development in Niverville – The Heritage Centre for Seniors.
They decided to sell the farm and make the big move.
They loved it in Niverville and both of them enjoyed their little sunroom, where they watched all the action through the windows.
Hedy (Mom) passed away at the age of 95. Ike lived almost two years longer and passed away at the age of 99 years (he tried so hard to make it to 100).
The graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville, MB., with coffee and fellowship to follow in the common room at Heritage Life Retirement Living Lease Centre, Niverville, MB.
