Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, Albert Morin, of St. Malo, MB., who has left to be reunited with his Thérèse on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Pierre (Dianne) and Maxine (Alain); grandchildren, Sylvie (Fraser), Samuel (Courtney), Dominique (Alex), Richmond, Gabrielle (Jordan) and Frédéric; great-grandchildren, Soleil, Lili, Trenton, Madeleine, and Hayden. He was so very proud of them and loved helping with babysitting, and enjoying their company.

He adored all of his family and will be lovingly remembered by his sisters; Jeanne Desrochers, Simone Desaulniers, Madeleine (Joe) Lundrigan, Diana Laurin, brothers; Richard (Donna), Raymond (Margaret), and in-laws; Lillian Morin, Simone Turenne and Marion Bérard. He was so very grateful to spend time visiting with his faithful family whether they were dropping by, making sure to give him a call or sending him cards.

He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Blanche; his brothers; Adrien (Simone), Antonin (Iliane), Lionel, sisters; Irène (Albert) Poirier, Fabiola (Émile) Desaulniers, in-laws; Harvey Laurin, André Desrochers, Victor Desaulniers as well as many in-laws on the Bérard side.

Dad was proud of his roots and his hometown of Mariapolis, MB., but sure grew to love St. Malo and after a time it definitely became home. Here, he established Morin Transfer which he poured his whole heart into. From watching him we learned that hard work leads to success, to take pride in a job well done, to listen to others’ needs, to be courteous, to be punctual, and work until the task is done.

Mom and Dad travelled throughout Canada, with trips to the U.S., Mexico and Portugal but summers would find them “au camp” in St. Malo, entertaining and enjoying the beautiful lake. Many hours were spent playing Sets and Runs and soaking up the sun.

Dad spent his last years being an attentive caregiver to his beloved Thérèse, trying his utmost best to keep her safe, even being extra protective. They received such wonderful care at Chalet Malouin which we will be forever grateful. The exceptional staff at Repos Jolys made sure his last year was a special reward for a life well-lived. They treated him like the gentleman he was and were so loving towards him every single day. These special caregivers had such an impact on both him and our family.

Every visit and friendly word from friends, family, staff and volunteers have been truly appreciated. Our Dad was truly blessed to have them all.

“Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back.”

The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A private interment will take place at a later date.
