Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 11 days, Elizabeth (Friesen) Reimer went home to be with her Saviour, where she longed to be.
Elizabeth was born on May 28, 1940, to Diedrich & Katherine Friesen in Darango, Mexico. She was the third oldest of eight children.
She grew up in an Old Colony Mennonite setting. As a youth, she accepted Jesus as her Saviour and was baptized into the Kleine Gemeide Church in Mexico.
Elizabeth was married to Edwin Reimer on August 25, 1957, in Mexico at the age of 17. In March of 1958, they moved to Belize with a group of seven other families, as the first settlers of Spanish Lookout. There six children were born, two of whom died as infants.
In September 1975, the family moved to Arborg, Manitoba. Two more daughters were born there.
Elizabeth is survived by five children: Diedrich Reimer of Salmon Arm, BC., Justina Brundige of Dawson Creek, BC., Klaas (Audrey) Reimer of Foxworth, Mississippi, Helen (Ron) Rock of Kincardine, ON., Betty Basa of Winnipeg, MB., fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters: Tina Penner of Manitoba, Lena Wall of Alberta, Trudy Harder of Ontario; one brother Diedrich of Manitoba; and one stepsister Susie Plett of Manitoba.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Edwin (2021), two infant daughters, and one son David (2024).
Mom loved to cook and bake, do gardening and can food. She enjoyed flowers and houseplants.
In the past several months, Mom resided in a care home in Morden, MB.
The come & go viewing will be held Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
The livestreamed funeral will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with public viewing one hour prior to the service.
The interment will take place at Blumenort Community Church Cemetery, Blumenort, MB.
