With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darryl Reimer of Steinbach MB on April 12, 2025, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
Born on March 17, 1967, in Steinbach, Manitoba, Darryl was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.
Darryl leaves behind his two children, Natascha (Avery Kitchur) and Kyle Reimer, who were the light of his life. He was also a devoted grandfather to Aalieyah and Madison, whose laughter and presence filled his heart with immeasurable joy.
Darryl is also survived by his mother; Elizabeth Reimer, his six siblings; Bob (Leanna) Reimer, Barb (Cornie) Harder, John (Doris) Reimer, Gladys (Cornie) Hein, Mel (Nic) Buhay and Russ (Shelia) Reimer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Darryl was predeceased by his father, Henry Reimer, with whom he shared many treasured memories – especially days spent fishing together at Falcon Lake. Those peaceful hours by the water, often joined by his children, were among his most treasured moments.
After graduating from Green Valley Collegiate in 1985, Darryl began his working life on a pig farm owned by his father-in-law and life long friend, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the value of hard work. In 1999 Darryl pursued a career in trucking with Penner International. His love for the open road led him to become an owner-operator, proudly driving his own semi-truck for the company up until 2018.
Darryl enjoyed spending his off time fishing, restoring old vehicles and reminiscing of the old days. He also enjoyed making memories with his family and friends.
In his later years, Darryl faced tremendous challenges with courage and quiet resilience. An accident in British Columbia left him with severe injuries, and more recently, he bravely battled leukaemia. Through it all, he remained strong, holding onto hope, humour, and love for his family.
The family would like to thank the healthcare staff at Bethesda Regional Hospital for taking care of Darryl during his last few months. The family would also like to thank Nathanial and Lucille Plett for being There every step of the way with Darryl, as well as Friends and family for taking time to visit Darryl at the hospital.
A livestreamed celebration of life to honour Darryl will be held at 1:00 pm on April 22, 2025 at Crossings Funeral Care, with a viewing 1 hour prior to the service. With a reception and interment to follow in the Grunthal Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the life Darryl.
