Agnes was born on May 14, 1923 near Morse, SK., and was the third daughter of Henry and Anna Wiebe. Agnes passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, MB at the age of 94.
Agnes met the love of her life, Leonard Gerbrandt, and was married July 11, 1946. They were blessed with ten children.
Agnes was predeceased by husband Leonard; sons: John and Tom; daughter Josie, one grandson, one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
Left to mourn her loss are: Sandra (Len), Bill (Doris), Daughter-in-law Sandra, George (Linda), Jackie, Peter (Linda), Daughter-in-law Marlene, Mary (Jack) and Barbara (Anton), twenty-eight grandchildren, four foster grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mom and Dad lived in Saskatchewan for two years and the rest of their life was spent in Steinbach. Mom was kept busy with her 10 children. Agnes was the epitome of the woman in Proverbs 31:27-28. She looked well to the ways of her household and eats not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
Mom sewed clothes for all her children and was always kept busy. Mom baked endless loaves of bread and buns for her family and others. She was very well known for the buns she made especially the paska. Mom was also a quilter and knitter. The hooded sweaters that she knit for her grandchildren and others have been well used by children all over the country. Her bible and knitting were never far from where she was. Mom was also a woman of prayer. We know that she prayed for us through all the years and for all our children as well. Through our growing up years, Mom welcomed many strangers into our home, many of whom admire to this day and call her Mom. Another of Mom’s joys was looking after little children which she did for many years. Mom was a humble woman with confidence in her faith. Her faith in God was unwavering to the end.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with interment at Memorial Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. Viewing will be at the chapel prior to the service.
