Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather.

Our Dad, Peter B. Dueck, passed away suddenly Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre at the age of 68.

Left to cherish Dad’s memory is his wife Linda and their children; Allan (Bonnie), and their children Karissa (Glenn), Samantha, Bradley and Tracy; Audrey (Jeff) and their son Ryan; Andrew (Emilyn), and their children Jasmine, Ethan and Owen. His sisters; Anne, Mary, Agatha (Dick), Jessie (Ike), Marge (Cornie). His in-laws; Leona (Ken), Leonard, Larry (Wilma), Luella (Gord), Laura (Rick), and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was predeceased by his parents Abram and Agatha Dueck, brother Abram, and parents-in-law Peter and Tina Pries. His Brother-in-law Jake Wiens and sister-in-law Joanne Pries.

Dad was born on December 17, 1949 to Abram and Agatha Dueck in the R.M. of Hanover District. He grew up on a farm in the Bristol area. Dad was baptized on May 21, 1972 at the CMC church in Steinbach. Dad married our mom on August 5, 1972. They resided in Steinbach and raised their family.

Dad enjoyed visiting the country side, he loved the convenience of town, but always liked to visit his sister’s farms in the Pansy area. Dad also loved music. He enjoyed playing his guitar and violin. He took the time to teach his sons to play the guitar. He used to play in a band in his younger years, and now just enjoyed playing with his sons and friends.

Dad was the jack of all trades. He was very talented at carpentry, electrical, plumbing and fixed whatever needed fixing. He helped his children with numerous projects when his health was better. Dad had his struggles in life. In 2008 he had a heart attack and lost part of his leg due to complications. We thought that we would be saying good-bye to Dad at that time, but he was blessed with almost 10 more years by God’s grace, which gave him the opportunity to see all his grandchildren. Dad loved it when any of his grandchildren came over. They were always welcome. He would say “Sure, come over we are home!” He had a special relationship with each of them. As each grandchild was born, he came up with a nickname for them.

  • Ryan – Orion Chev Olds
  • Tracy – Tracy Ullman
  • Karissa- Christopher Columbus
  • Jasmine – Pumpkin
  • Samantha – Sammie Davis
  • Ethan – Chico
  • Bradley – Bud the Spud
  • Owen – Owen my boy

We as a family will miss Dad and his quirky sayings. He is now free of pain and suffering and whatever internal struggles he was battling. May God’s grace be upon him. Rest in Peace Dad.
