Obituary

Our brother, uncle, and friend, Ivan Martin Penner, was born to Aron and Linda Isaac Penner on July 12, 1967. He passed away on February 8, 2022, at the age of 54 years.

Being the eighth child born to Aron and Linda, Ivan brought much sunshine and cheer to their home with his winsome smile and curly hair. Desiring to live peaceably with everyone, his easy-going ways won him many friends. Ivan graduated from Grade 12 at the school in Landmark. It seemed that Ivan always had an interesting story to tell, as well as a word of advice to share with any person he met. His four legged friends were also a very important part of his life!

Ivan lived on the old home place near Landmark, MB. In his younger years, he spent time working with his family doing dirt moving and road construction. Later on, he also worked in Fort McMurray, AB. He was an excellent dozer operator. The daily phone calls he made to Mom Linda throughout the years were an expression of the love and care he felt for her. As well, Ivan always took an interest in what his nieces and nephews were doing.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Aron and Linda; three older brothers, whom he never met: Keith, Byron, and Johnny. These boys were in a car/train accident on March 14, 1964.

Remembered by siblings Ron and Marcella, Gilbert Plains, MB; Gail Penner, Landmark, MB; Dean and Carolyn Penner, Steinbach, MB; Abe and Liz Penner, Wheatley, ON; Close friend, Rhonda Fehr, and her son Cody; nine nieces and nephews; his Aunt Elma; and many friends.

Ivan, we will miss you.

A come & go viewing will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A livestreamed private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

Interment to follow at 4:30 p.m. at Prairie Rose EMC Cemetery, Landmark, MB.

A lunch is being held at 5:30 p.m. at Greenland School, Greenland, MB., everyone is welcome, there will be an open mic following lunch.
