Obituary

Violet Weese (nee Friesen), passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the age of 88, at Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, Manitoba.

She was born to the late Paul and Maria Friesen on April 7, 1929, in the R.M of Tache, Manitoba. In her early years, she taught English before moving to Chicago, where she worked various jobs. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Religious Studies, and then worked as a writer and as an editor in Dayton, Ohio. Violet met Otto Crayton Weese at a church function in Dayton, Ohio and they were married September 8, 1962. They were blessed with one daughter and one son.

After she married, she resided in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Warner Robins, GA with her husband and two children. After her husband retired from the United States Air Force, they moved back to Steinbach. She always maintained a love of reading and she also loved to travel throughout the United States and in Europe.

Violet was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Lottie Friesen, brother Glenn Friesen, sister and brother-in-law Katie and Arley Reimer, and sister and brother-in-law Elvira and Archie Penner.

She is survived by: her husband of 55 years, Otto Crayton Weese, daughter Cynthia Lynae (Bill) McKenzie, of Johns Creek, GA, and son Christopher Allen (Marcia) Weese, of Lilburn, GA, and two grandchildren: Eric and Carter. She is also survived by her brother Leander Friesen (Joyce) of Tomball, Texas, plus various nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, MB, viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
