It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Roger Belisle at the Ste. Anne Hospital, Ste. Anne, MB, on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
Dad left this Earth to join the Lord a few weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday. We are very thankful that he was able to celebrate with family and friends during a gathering in mid-June.
Left to mourn his passing are his three children: Nicole (Serge Balcaen), Ginette (Rogerio Furtado) and Daniel (Nathalie Ferraton) as well as his four precious grandchildren: Gaby, Janique, Emma & Ricardo.
He also leaves two sisters: Laurence Postnicks and Caroline Tetrault and three brothers: Vic (Laura), Guy (Bernice) & Claude (Doreen).
Dad grew up the 11th child in a family of 12 children. He was raised on a farm in Elie, MB, where he learned the value of hard work and family values. He was shy, soft spoken, kind hearted and most of all very patient! His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was always evident. He took care of everyone first and never complained. He worked as a welder at New Holland for nearly 40 years and barely missed a day’s work. He enjoyed many years of retirement with Mom, taking care of his grandchildren, travelling a bit and going for coffee at Tim Hortons. When you saw Dad, you saw Mom.
They were blessed during their 51 years of marriage to have four grandchildren whom they loved unconditionally. Pépère was proud of all of their accomplishments and always asked how they were doing when we came for a visit.
We remember all the times Dad came to encourage us at sporting events or when we stopped by just to visit. He was always in a good mood, easy going and had a quick laugh. He was genuinely a good person and didn’t have a mean bone in his body.
After selling their house in Windsor Park, Mom and Dad enjoyed three years of living at Villa Aulneau until Mom’s health required them to move to Villa Youville in Ste-Anne, MB. There, Dad made many friends and fully enjoyed his move to a small town. Dad was always active either taking long walks, bike riding or riding his scooter. He was often out and about but he was always easy to find.
Our family would like to thank the many health care aids, nurses, doctors, home care staff who cared for him over the last six years. A special thank-you to his friend Leon who brought him to his many appointments and watched out for him.
Dad was a man of deep faith and never missed church on Sundays. He often brought communion to Mom when she was too ill to attend.
Dad has faced many health challenges over the last six years but never complained and faced every single one with courage and a positive attitude. We are comforted by the fact that Mom and Dad are reunited in heaven.
He lived a full life and we are forever grateful to have been a part of it.
A private family funeral will take place at a later date.
