Tina Heier, 93, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba.
Tina is survived by three sons and one daughter: Art (Esther), Fred (Kimberley), Faith Cathcart (Dale) and Paul (Wendy); eleven grandchildren and their spouses and eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, as well as many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Tina was predeceased by her husband, Henry, in 2003, three brothers and two sisters, one brother-in-law and three sister-in-laws.
Tina was born to Frank and Katharina Klassen on March 12, 1930 in Rosengard, Manitoba as the second oldest of eleven children. The family later moved to the St. Catherines area of Ontario. It was while visiting family in Manitoba that she met Henry Heier, the love of her life. They were married April 14, 1956. They moved to British Columbia where Henry was working as a lumberjack and remained there for fourteen years. During this time, they had three children. They made many wonderful friends and enjoyed the times when Henry’s family lived close by.
They moved to the Trentham area of Manitoba with their family of three in 1970 to begin farming. Their youngest son, Paul, was born in 1971. They continued farming until 2000 at which time Henry and Tina moved to Stone Creek Courts in Steinbach. After Henry’s passing in 2003, Tina continued to live at Stone Creek until December 2020. At this time, she moved to Bridge Park Manor where she enjoyed living for two years and made many more friends. She could often be found driving her friends for coffee or breakfast to A&W.
Tina remained active until summer 2022 at which time her health started to decline further. In February 2023, she was admitted to hospital where she remained until her move to Red River Valley Lodge in Morris. Her health declined rapidly in the last two weeks prior to her passing and on September 5th, in the early hours of the morning, Tina went home to meet her Lord and Saviour.
Tina will be remembered for her great love for her Saviour, as well as family and friends. She was a faithful prayer warrior and felt burdened for family who did not know her Lord. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
This little note was found in Tina’s purse, in her own handwriting: “There is no love without forgiveness and there is no forgiveness without love.” ~ Bryant H. McGill
Special thanks to healthcare staff at St. Pierre Hospital and Red River Valley Lodge in Morris for all the wonderful care she received!
A livestreamed celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. A private family interment will take place prior to the service.
