Obituary

Peacefully with family by her side, Marie Yolande Eveline (nee Curé) Catellier passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the De Salaberry District Health Centre, Ste-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba.

Eveline leaves to mourn her five children. Gerte (Bobby), Paul (Irene), Dave (JoAnne), Daniel, and Joey (Monique). Seven grandchildren Sarah, Amber (Ben), Houston, Kyle (Deena), Alexi, Chris (Kayla), Lise (Logan). Three great-grandchildren Jaxon, Ella, and Aubrey. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Yvonne, Irene (Ron) and brother Mike. As well as many sister-in-law’s nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Fred, parents Armand and Victoire Curé, father-in-law and mother-in-law Marcel and Donalda Catellier, brother Eddie, sisters Gisele, Reynalde and Marge.

Eveline was born and raised in the St-Pierre-Jolys area. She grew up real fast taking part in raising her younger siblings at a young age. She started working at the restaurant in St-Pierre-Jolys when she was 17.

She married Fred on November 28, 1959. They moved to the Vita area where they farmed and raised their five children. With Fred doing various jobs on the road Eveline and the kids took care of the farm and gardens. Fred and Eveline farmed Stoney Meadow Ranch from 1969 until he retired, sold the farm, and moved to an acreage in the St. Malo area.

Eveline enjoyed gardening, canning, and decorating the yard, which she did until the very end. She would carry that oxygen tank all over the yard. Nothing would stop her.

She had an incredible work ethic but would set her work aside when it came to family and grandchildren.

She would put on a lot of miles just to go watch and support any of their activities. She would always create “annual” barbeques just for any reason to get the whole family together all at one time.

She was always independent, but her health really caught up to her in the end and you could see the frustration building up in her when she couldn’t accomplish all the things that she wanted to do.

Special thanks to the courteous staff at the De Salaberry District Health Centre.

Also special thanks to Birchwood Funeral Chapel for their special help throughout this tough time.

A livestreamed Celebration of Eveline’s life will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach Manitoba.
