It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Peter Wiebe, age 74 of Mitchell, MB., on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Bethesda Regional Heath Centre, Steinbach, MB.
Peter was born on October 17, 1949, to Peter and Maria Wiebe in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. He grew up with 10 siblings.
Dad met our Mom, Nela Penner and got married on August 22, 1976, at the Sommerfelder Church in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua. They had three children born to them in Mexico. Mom and Dad moved to Canada in February of 1980 where they had four more children. They bought a home in Mitchell on four acres in 1987 and lived there for 36 years.
He worked many years at Granny’s and then later as a welder at Midland Manufacturing in Rosenort, MB., for roughly 25 years, where he eventually quit working due to health issues. Dad had many years of health complications and was hospitalized more times than we’d like. In November 2022, Dad was hospitalized again and stayed there until he was placed into Rest Haven in May of 2023. Dad lived there for six short months.
Peter confessed he was a born again believer and was ready to meet Jesus. He is free of all suffering and is in his eternal body.
“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is when we die and leave this earthly body) we will have a house in heaven, and eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:1
Dad will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Nela Wiebe and their seven children, Levi Wiebe, Menno Wiebe, Frank Wiebe, Lawrence Wiebe, Susie Decelles, Henry Wiebe, Tony Wiebe, and their families.
The livestreamed funeral service for Peter will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
Interment to follow at the Froese Cemetery, Altona, MB.
