In the midst of celebrating the Christmas season as a family, our beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with Jesus early Saturday morning, December 30, 2023.
David Stahl was born November 23rd, 1953, in Elie, Manitoba, one of twelve children of Joseph and Rachel Stahl. He met his wife of 49 years, Margarete, at Rosedale colony in 1970. They were married on May 5th, 1974. The couple left the Hutterite colony with their five young daughters on June 1st of 1985, settling on a dairy farm in rural Landmark, MB. They were followed shortly by his brother Isaac and family, who made a home just down the road where the brothers continued to raise their families for 38 years.
David was employed on a dairy farm for 11 years and crafted custom solid wood furniture for three years. He spent 20 years as a long distance truck driver, 19 of those driving together with his wife.
He is survived by his loving wife Margarete and their daughters Kathleen (Laurent), Margie (Regent), Linda (Shaun), Janet (Michael), Norma (Andrew) his sisters Rachel Waldner (Josh deceased), Susie Kleinsasser (Sam), Sara, Lydia Kleinsasser (Levi), his brothers John (Sarah), Reuben (Susanna) and his grandchildren Tyler (Cassandra), Reanna, Ireland, Charis, Ava, Evan, Ella, Sophia, Lanna, David, Jonah, Sarah, Adilyn, Maggie, Lucy and Lily. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Lena Stahl.
He was predeceased by his father Joseph, mother Rachel, brothers Joseph and Isaac, and sisters Matilda (Levi), Anna (Jake), and Katie (Jack).
David’s pride and joy was his faith, his cherished wife, children, and grandchildren. He took his family camping every summer, visiting many US states. When his children got married and had grandchildren, David would then take his grandchildren on vacations. His top vacations were Europe, a cruise to Hawaii, and his many trips to visit his daughter and grandchildren in Oregon. His last trip was to Minneapolis with his wife, his girls, and their spouses, to watch the Vikings for his 70th Birthday. He habitually visited the widows and the lonely, sharing the hope of Jesus. He successfully battled cancer 18 years ago. He was an incredible encouragement to all around despite his diagnosis, never fearing death and worried more about his family and friends. He gave so much time and energy to his children and grandchildren until the end, always ready to help. He was quiet, patient, humble, compassionate, empathetic, and kind-hearted, always putting others ahead of himself
