It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to our brother, Thomas (Tom) Harry Dupont who passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Tom was born July 18, 1959, the fourth child of Bruno & Mary Dupont. He grew up in the town of Balmertown, Ontario, along with his siblings Dwaine, Garry, and Donelda.
After graduating from Red Lake District High, Tom attended college majoring in electronics and instrumentation. He went on to a successful career with Bruce Power, retiring after 25 years.
Tom had an inquisitive mind and never stopped learning about the flora and fauna around him. Many was the time when family members would enquire of him about a certain type of plant or insect. Another interest was ancient history which culminated in a visit to Italy and Greece to see the Roman and Greek ruins just prior to his passing.
One of Tom’s greatest joys was spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children. He could often be seen sitting with them, sculpting dinosaurs out of plasticene, viewing books, or pointing out insects or plants while walking.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Mary & Bruno, his brother Dwaine and his treasured nephew Eric Dupont.
He is survived by his brother Garry (Kathy), sister Donelda (Reinhard), sister-in-law Jennie, and all his cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Thomas is gone too soon and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest with his parents in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Kelowna B.C.
The family would like to thank his wonderful neighbor’s Peter Klassen and Patrick Friesen, for the kindness they showed Tom and the tremendous support they have been for the family.
For those who wish to donate, donations can be made to your local food bank.
Rest in peace, Tom.
