Obituary

André Alfred Joseph Lord passed away peacefully at home, after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, March 9th 2024 at the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his loving partner of many years, Nicole Tétrault and his son René Desjarlais, his wife Kyla and their children Mya and Quinn. He will also be greatly missed by Nicole’s children, Eric (Dania), Rémi (Estele), Natalie (William), and Pierre (Kara) and their children especially little Zoé who had a very special place in Pepère André’s heart and vice versa.

André is also survived by his siblings, Jean-Yves (Jacqueline Bérard), Claude (Tracey Wyder), Gilles (Debra Dalzell), Guy, Claire, Angèle, and Paul, our sister-in-law Karen (Hornick) Lord as well as René’s mother, Betty Cougnon-Desjarlais. He’s also survived by his in-laws, the Tétraults, Etienne (Andrée), Maurice (Lorraine), Lorraine (Jean-Guy’s widow), Roger (Carol), Anne-Marie (Georges), Pauline (Jean-Pierre), Thérèse (Claude), Francois (Carmen), Laurent (Yvette), and Luc (Anita) and everyone’s respective families.

He was predeceased by his parents Jean-Léon and Eloise (Gagnon) Lord, his brother Marcel, his in-laws Joseph and Monique Tétrault, as well as his brother-in-law Jean-Guy and sisters-in-law Colette and Madeleine.

Our charismatic brother could often be seen on his little red scooter zipping down La Broquerie’s main street on his way for morning coffee and a good chat session with his buddies at the Hotel. Although he lived a number of years in Alberta and British Columbia, he eventually made his way back to La Broquerie and met Nicole, and he was a goner. They bought a house together (he told everyone he bought himself a job) and he made it his joy to renovate and beautify their home and yard. He loved having beautiful flowers and especially loved planting different species of trees on his property and elsewhere in the community. Many people in La Broquerie can say that they bought trees from André, trees that are now offering them shade during their family picnics or trees from which they’re collecting and enjoying fruit from every year. He was responsible for planting the row of trees that presently line the railroad track along Gauthier Street in La Broquerie. He also volunteered a lot of time to our parish over the years and more specifically on a major clean-up of the parish’s cemetery, cleaning and scrubbing hundreds of tomb stones, identifying and cataloguing information on this town’s ancestors. And now the time has come for you to rest there in peace André and rest assured, you will forever be remembered, loved and missed.

A funeral mass and celebration of Andre’s life will be held at La Broquerie Roman Catholic Church in La Broquerie on Saturday, March 16th 2024 at 11:00 am.
