Obituary

Maurice Yaremchuk, age 85 years, of Hadashville, MB., passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness surrounded by family on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Selkirk, MB.

He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas & Stella (Yaremchuk), brother William & sister-in-law Linda Yaremchuk, and nephew Terry Yaremchuk. And crossed over the rainbow bridge. His forever companions collie “Rebel”, Tazzy Bear and Oscar.

Maurice is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn, his two sons; Conrad (Jolaine), granddaughters Taelyn, Kensey, puppies CindyLou & Rosie, son Keenan (Tricia) and family, and puppies Roxy and Jasper will miss him. Brother Bob & Elain, sister Olga Mazur and many nieces and nephews held so dear in his heart.

Maurice was extremely proud of his sons and their accomplishments and equally proud when they found their soulmates. (Then came many flights to Alberta & many, many trips to St. Andrews.) In 2015 there was a highlight trip to New York Yankee Stadium with Conrad & Keenan, where they also toured Ground Zero.

Maurice graduated from Maritime Ranger facility in New Brunswick in the class of 1961. He then served 37 years as Conservation Officer with the Province of Manitoba. He took an early retirement in 1995 in Hadashville, on the Whitemouth River. He then dedicated his time & energy as councillor to the R.M. of Reynolds for over two decades.

He will be missed by the many friends he made during his service in rural Southeast Manitoba.

Maurice was an avid, devoted sports fan. If you had any questions pertaining to football, hockey, baseball… just ask him. He also enjoyed and participated in curling and golfing. Fishing expeditions took him to Ontario, Lac Seul Lake cabin with the Bugera and Nenka family for over 4 decades. Later “Caribou Landing” near Bissett MB., became a popular destination with sons and friends. Ice fishing north of Selkirk was another form of entertainment. A woodstove heated cabin (ice shack) made the experience very pleasant. He immensely enjoyed hunting, and looked forward to each fall, his last hunt with Bob Williment in November of 2023.

Our heartfelt thanks for the friendship and support to Maurice and our family during the last years. To Bob Williment, Bob & Shelly Barta, Paul & Patti and to all our neighbours, family and friends. We remain forever grateful.
